Welcome! We are glad you are here.
ECU IMPACT is here to support you during your pregnancy and after your baby is born. We work hard to provide care in a safe, welcoming place without stigma or judgment. Along with pregnancy and addiction care, we can connect you with helpful services like social work and breastfeeding support. If you have questions or want to learn more, please contact us.
What are signs that you might have a problem with alcohol or other substances?
- Do you use more of the drug/alcohol than you said you would?
- Have you tried to cut down or stop drinking or using and have not been able to?
- Do you spend a lot of time getting your drinks/drugs, using them, and recovering from them?
- Have you given up certain social, work, or family activities because of your use?
- Have friends or family said something about your use?
- Have you continued to use alcohol or drugs despite bad consequences (car accident, needing more of the drug/alcohol to get high, using while pregnant, breaking the law, being late to work or school, etc.)?
Can I breastfeed?
Discuss with your prenatal care provider, pediatrician, or lactation consultant.
What to expect after we receive your referral
- Our scheduling team will reach out to you by phone, MyChart message, or both to schedule an appointment. You will receive two appointments, one for pregnancy care and one for ECU IMPACT. Both appointments will take place in the same clinic.
- When you arrive for your appointment, we will make a copy of your insurance card and driver’s license during check-in.
- The medical assistant will check your blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature, and review your medical and family history, medications, and allergies.
- You will receive two questionnaires (PHQ-9 and GAD-7) to complete. These assess for anxiety and depression.
- A psychiatry resident (doctor) will review the questionnaires with you and offer resources as needed.
Dr. Ryan will then meet with you and review the IMPACT Clinic’s purpose, urine drug screens, and the Controlled Substance Agreement. - We will ask for your consent for urine drug screens. If you consent to and sign the urine drug screen form, random drug screens will be performed during your care at ECU IMPACT.
- You may or may not be seen in ECU IMPACT with every OB visit depending on your needs.
