Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery

The Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is a subspecialty division of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We care for women with complex pelvic floor disorders, such as urinary and fecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, requiring subspecialty training and certification beyond that of general obstetrician/gynecologists or urologists.

The division specializes in minimally invasive techniques to treat pelvic floor disorders as well as benign gynecologic disorders such as endometriosis or fibroids. Because we utilize multi-modal analgesia and other adverse post-operative symptom mitigating strategiea, most of our surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis, with no or minimal narcotics necessary. We offer in-office diagnostic and treatment procedures as well medical management of vulvar, bowel and bladder disorders.
